Abstract

In the planning of the Sentul-Karawang Toll Road, the soil used is Clay Shale. This type of soil has large shrinkage and swelling properties when there is a change in water content, because the strength of a structure will be directly influenced by the ability of the base soil to receive and transmit the working load. The Sentul-Karawang Toll Road Planning  Project is currently  in the implementation stage with a length of  59,061 KM. from the transverse parameters, it is planned for an inner shoulder width of 1 m, an outer shoulder width of 3 m and a traffic lane width of 4 m. From this study, an analysis was conducted at two locations, namely Sta.4+150 and Sta.9+350 to recommend the necessary treatment for Clay Shale soil. The embankment location will use 1m replacement reinforcement and 10 layers of 200kN Woven Geotextile. The purpose of the Geotextile itself is reinforcement to increase the tensile strength of the soil. From the results of the analysis using Plaxis 2D, the safety factor (SF) value was obtained. The results of the analysis at Sta.9+350 with a 3m embankment height required 1m replacement treatment, the static safety factor value was 5.5 and the earthquake safety factor was 2,702. While Sta. 4+150 embankment with a height of Hmax = 30 m embankment using 10 layers of 200kN Woven geotextile reinforcement obtained a static safety factor value of 2,336 and an earthquake safety factor of 1,178. It can be concluded that the results of the analysis using Plaxis 2D using Geoxtextile Woven 200 kN effectively increase the shear strength of Clay Shale soil.
